Google announced on their blog Tuesday that they are making plans to release an operating system made entirely for netbooks, based on what they call ‘An attempt to re-think what operating systems should be’. The mainly netbook OS will be called ‘Google Chrome OS’, named, and branched off of their internet browser Google Chrome. Released in September of ’08, Google Chrome has hit 30 million users recently, while the number keeps on growing. The Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 and ARM chips. Google is working multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to the market next year. This OS is being developed for users who are more likely to spend time on the internet, and the entire project is open source.
