Apple’s iPod Classic May Also Be A Candidate For Additional Camera

Many rumors have popped up recently concerning Apple’s new iPod line, speculated to be announced at a music event on September 9th, most rumors showing proof of an added camera to the iPod Touch and iPod Nano. Citing industry sources, Taiwanese rumor site DigiTimes has reported that OmniVision will become the sole supplier of 3.2 megapixel CMOS image sensors for the upcoming line of iPod upgrades. The report singles out the iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod classic as camera-toting devices that will debut next month.

This builds even more anticipation for Apple’s new iPod lineup being the iPod Classic has an on board mini hard drive, thus allowing more pictures to be taken; and be used as a mainstream camera device. Although more storage is promising for a camera based device, flash memory has become less expensive and more reliable over the years. Many speculate that this is the last hard drive based device if it even contains one.
